Projects
Mid-Century Modern table (2022)
This was my most challenging project yet: the mortise and tenon construction required a lot of precision chisel work (I also not-so-preciesly chiseled my thumb). I also used a CNC router for the first time, ensuring that the top was a perfect circle. This was a super rewarding build, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
Acoustic Guitar (2020-21)
Building this guitar took countless afternoons in the wood shop. I learned so much from my mentor Corey Wiscomb about approaching not just guitars, but woodworking and other projects. Highlights of this instrument are the inlay work on the rosette and the island scene, as well as the binding and perfling along the edges.
Electric Ukulele (2021-22)
This was super fun to build, and I was surprised by how much quicker it was than the guitar! I still plan to add sound holes so that it can have dual electric or acoustic function. I like the flamed maple headstock, as well as the maple sides and rosewood binding.
Yearbook Cover (2021-22)
As editor of the yearbook last year it was my job to design the cover. It started as a photo cubism project inspired by David Hockney with hundreds of photos combined to make an otherwise impossible panorama of the school. I then brought in the gradient and neon lettering and BOOM! there’s the retro edition cover.
